Considered here is a plasma grating generated by two counterpropagating short laser pulses. Because of the shortness pulses, dynamics are determined only electrons, which respond to ponderomotive pressure interacting fields. An electron cannot exist for longer than inverse ion frequency, and so because limited time pressure, both life spatial extent an finite. When one pulses circularly polarized (propagating in x direction with electric field vectors yz plane) other linearly y-polarized, produced y components. Meanwhile, z component partially reflected, fraction it transmitted. Thus, finite can either alter polarization yz-polarized pulse or act as splitter.
